Since I am always on lookout for new locations for photo sessions, I was thrilled when Amy suggested Mt Roubidoux in Riverside. For one, I have never been there. For two, I love that this family was not afraid of a 45 minute hike to reach our destination! I told her that I was game if she was.
In preparation for the session, I took a drive over there and made it a field trip day with my 3 kids. They were on an adventure and I was on a mission. Once we reached the top, I immediately knew that this was the perfect spot for this family. The view was breath taking. And the cross at the top was especially meaningful. I knew that it would be even more amazing at the golden hour (around 6 pm in the summer).
When the day of the shoot came, we all hiked it up the hill. With their 3 kids in tow, I did not know if anyone would melt down on the way up. They did not. They were fantastic. They were on an adventure. The session went great. The lighting was perfect and the kids were VERY compliant. It was one of those sessions where everything clicked.
If you are looking for a unique location for your family and you are up for an adventure, I would highly suggest considering a little hike up Mt Roubidoux. I’m up for it, if you are!
