This is the story of that boy who loved that girl and decided that he wanted her as his wife.
It was a beautiful in San Diego for this military wedding at Karl Strauss Brewing Company. The skies were clear. The temperature was perfect for a day late in September. Preparations were made and it was finally the day for them to day “I do.” I was pleased to see David in his dress blues. He was sharp. He was polished. He and his attendants passed the time with a few friendly rounds of little rock-paper-scissors.
All of her attendants were ready to focus their attention on her. Nerves, excitement and a whole lot of fun filled the bridal prep room. No preparations are quite complete without a little jumping on the bed. Hair, make-up, dress, shoes. She was now ready to go see her husband to be.
Not every couple wants to do a first look before the ceremony, but they did. Elyse’s comment after she saw him was, “As soon as he touched my arm, I totally calmed down.” That’s a pretty good reason to do a first look.
Now it’s time to say I do.
Time for some back-story. Shortly after David and Elyse were engaged, they were playing around in the ocean one day. Elyse was tossed around a bit by some waves and to her horror, she came to shore WITHOUT HER ENGAGEMENT RING. Can you imagine? Lost at sea. She was devastated. The day I saw them for their engagement shoot, she walked up to me and looked kind of glassy-eyed. All she said was, “Don’t ask me about the ring. I’ll tell you about it another day.”
Fast forward to their wedding day. To Elyse’s surprise, David pulled out a NEW RING while exchanging vows! Bridesmaids squealed. Elyse’s eyes were wide with disbelief. In addition to David’s military medals, he now gets the GOLD STAR husband award that one. I love a good happily ever after.
And then they partied. They toasted. They danced. They hugged. And as Elyse calls it, “The Best Day Ever.”
And they lived happily ever after.
