I will be totally honest here. This is the first birth session that I have ever done.

It has been a great desire of my heart to experience and capture such an amazing event. Seeing and hearing baby’s first breath would be simply amazing. Needless to say, I was over the moon when an old friend contacted me to see if I would be interested in doing this for her. She was pregnant with her third child and had delivered her other two children naturally. This birth would be an in home water birth with the assistance of midwives.

And the day could not have been more picture perfect. She texted me at 8 am on a bright and sunny Saturday morning to tell me that she was in labor. I quickly showered and gathered my things. I arrived at her home around 9:30 and she delivered at 10:15. There wasn’t screaming in agony or mayhem. It was a beautifully orchestrated and controlled process by an experienced mommy and her wonderful midwives. She seriously made the birth look almost effortless.

What an amazing day. What a great joy, honor and pleasure it was to be a part of it. I have now found a new photographic love.
