This is my cousin, Sonja.  I was just a tween when she was born and I have had the pleasure of watching her grow into a beautiful, smart, sweet and kind woman. Dave is a lucky man.

After dating on and off for six years, Dave decided that it was the right time to call her his wife. When he did ask, she quickly replied with “Is this a joke?” But after getting over the shock, she said yes.

(SIDENOTE: Although it is taboo within my industry to photograph a family wedding, I would not be able sit there and watch someone else do it. They just wouldn’t know what I know or see what I see because she is so special to me. So I broke the rule, and I photographed her wedding.)

The wedding took place on a warm Friday in May at the golden hour – that hour of the day when the sun hangs low in the sky and gently illuminates everything with that creamy and sparkly afternoon sun. It was a truly lovely day in every way.
